Varilrix (Chickenpox Varicella) Vaccination

This vaccine helps protect against chickenpox (varicella). It is free for eligible patients under the National Immunisation Schedule, and available as a private (non-funded) option for others.

Age Eligibility:

• Funded: Given at 15 months, with a catch-up dose at 11 years.

• Non-funded: Suitable for anyone who has not had chickenpox or been vaccinated previously.

What to Expect:

• The vaccine is given as an injection in the upper arm.

• Some people may need two doses—your pharmacist can check your immunisation history.

• Please speak with the team if you are feeling unwell or have a weakened immune system.
